Checking In: Ovolo Hotel Sydney

The Australian summer is my favourite time of year to be in the Southern hemisphere, so when the opportunity arose to fly back and spend a few weeks south side, I jumped at the opportunity and as part of my time in Australia, visited Sydney for a few days. Sydney has long been the most popular city to visit for travellers coming to my home country for the first time and after spending a few days in the city it isn’t hard to see why! Here’s a quick review of my weekend in Sydney with Ovolo Hotels who have two properties in the city – one in Darling Harbour and one in Woolloomooloo.

Checking In: Ovolo Woolloomooloo

There are two Ovolo hotels in Sydney and because I have a (severe) case of FOMO (missing out), I decided to check in to both as I had a few nights in Sydney. Each hotel has their own personality and positive traits, but because of the location and great dining options for vegans, my preference was the Ovolo Woolloomooloo property.

This hotel has quickly made a name for itself as one of the quirkiest hotels in Sydney, with a playful approach to interior design that is reflected throughout the hotel by offering a pool, gym, free mini-bar and buffet breakfast.

Checking In: Ovolo 1888

The second Ovolo property is located in Darling harbour, a great location if you prefer to be on the quieter side of town and within walking distance to the Star Casino. This property has a very similar approach to fun and playful design as well as a great restaurant and bar named Mister Percy.

The Junior Suite at Ovolo 1888

My room at Ovolo 1888 was the junior suite, a huge oversized room which was perfect to explore Sydney from for two days. Room highlights include a free (restocked daily) mini bar, Apple tv (hello Netflix!) and oversized tub in the bathroom.

My Room at Ovolo Woolloomooloo

For my last night in Sydney I checked in to Ovolo Woolloomooloo which appears to be the busier property of the two and has a fun social scene on the weekends. My room at this Ovolo was also extremely large, featured free mini-bar and again, an oversized tub to kick back and enjoy Netflix!

Plant Based Eats at Alibi

Even if you’re not staying at Ovolo you should definitely pop down to Alibi, the plant-based eatery inside Ovolo Woolloomooloo. The restaurant features an impressive menu by Los Angeles chef Matthew Kenney who has built an exceptional reputation for himself in the plant based food scene. Try the tasting menu for a journey through just how delicious plant based food can be!

A very big thank you to the Ovolo team for welcoming me to stay with them whilst I was in Sydney! All opinions and photos are of course, my own!
