Though unimaginatively named, Hostel Pisa is quite easily the overall best hostel in Pisa. It’s got a really tasty onsite cafe which doubles up as a common room (complete with piano and guitar for all your *shudder* … sing-along needs), all nice and modern-looking, basic-ish but clean dorms, very friendly staff – you know, all the stuff that basically adds up to this place being the best hostel in Pisa 2020. There’s also loads of board games, foosball, ping pong, you know, all that kinda shiz that helps further a social atmosphere. Great location too. And it’s cheap.

Pfft, wow, get ready to be right next to the actual Leaning Tower of Pisa – as you can tell from the helpfully obvious name, Hostel Pisa Tower is like… right there. We’ve picked this as the best hostel for solo travellers in Pisa for the super friendly and helpful staff, the well equipped common areas, and the chill lil’ garden/terrace area complete with ping pong table – this all means a) great atmosphere and b) a good place to socialise. Location-wise, sure it’s right near the tower, but it’s slightly to the north side of the city. Other than that this is deffo a top hostel in Pisa.

Best Cheap Hostel in Pisa – Pisa Train Station Hostel

Something tells us that you can’t get much cheaper than just being, well, right next to the train station. Time is money, and nobody wants to be trudging around a city with a backpack looking for a hostel – and at the same time, nobody REALLY wants to be shelling out cash for a taxi, either. So save time and money and stay right next to the train station at another obviously named Pisa backpackers hostel. Basically, we’d say this is the best cheap hostel in Pisa for the location, but it’s also a nice place (surprisingly); it’s cosy and warm and is run by some V friendly staff.

Based on the fact that this has a great location sorta midway between sights, train station, grocery store, pizzerias, bars, the airport – literally everything you could need – AND also based on the sweet free packed breakfast that the owner literally makes himself for you every day, this is a good budget hostel in Pisa. We’d also say that this is the best hostel with a private room in Pisa, since the room itself is probs one of the cheapest you’ll find. And whilst, yes, it’s basic, it’s also not too basic, y’know? It’s very comfy and clean and a solid option for a hostel in Pisa.

Why this B&B has a German name we aren’t entirely sure (like, this is Italy isn’t it?) but we suppose that maybe the owners are German. Maybe? Unsure. Irrelevant. What is relevant and what matters is this is the best budget hotel in Pisa because it’s really cheap – for a hotel, that is – and it comes with a free Italian breakfast every morning, and the location is pretty much close-ish to everything. Like, we’re talking 2 min walk from the main station and a pleasant stroll (yep) to the popping Piazza dei Miracoli for some sightseeing and equally close to some of the other top things to do in Pisa. Also, some rooms have balconies which is just dreamy.

Best Mid-Range Hotel in Pisa – B&B Villa Regina

I mean, wow, like – WOW. Surely you can’t get much better than staying in an actual old traditional Italian villa? It’s palatial, really it is. The rooms themselves aren’t exactly designed by someone with the best design eye in the world, but the setting itself is all elegant parquet floors and high ceilings and other period features and we love it. For the best mid-range hotel in Pisa, we’d deffo say Villa Regina is IT. Ok, so it’s sorta at the upper end of mid-range, but c’mon – the free breakfast here is amazing and it’s like 10 mins walking from the main sights.

Palazzo Cini Luxury Rooms in Pisa

The clue really is in the name with this one: it literally says Luxury Rooms and, hmm, well there’s no mystery here – it’s luxury AF and so therefore quite nicely takes its place as the best splurge hotel in Pisa. The rooms are like something from Conde Nast Traveler – all minimalist decor with a pale and white colour scheme and exposed wood beams. 100% Insta-friendly. What more is there to say? With luxury surroundings comes luxury service too – the staff are exceptionally friendly. Everything is of high quality. Basically, it’s literally the opposite to a budget hostel in Pisa. To take your mind off of the steep cost, ponder this question: will the leaning tower of Pisa ever fall? Woah…

OMG, super cute alert! Really, this place is so sweetly beautiful: it’s set in a tiny terrace house and all the decor is less design mag, more arts-and-craftsy. Rustic, distressed furniture in the rooms and stuff like that. You’ll love it. The area where you eat a FREE BREAKFAST in the morning is possibly the cutest – little kitchen area with pale pastel colours and cute little chairs and tables. Dang, it’s making our hearts melt just thinking about it. The name is a bit weird and doesn’t exactly evoke the cuteness that this place effortlessly effuses, but who cares.

If you were looking for a recommended hotel in Pisa, something that’s like a sleek, ultra-modern sorta thing with loads of chic (in a V contemporary way) design touches and furniture, then you should prob look no further than Live09 Design. It’s all minimalist and colourful and stuff like that. Yep, this weirdly named B&B certainly could be the coolest hotel in Pisa. Oh and the free breakfast here is the BEST – huge continental buffet, just the sort of thing you need. It’s also slightly on the cheaper side of mid-range so for the price this place is just amazing.

The rooms at Liberi di Sognare feel a lot more like hip apartments than hotel rooms – just… spacious, cool, tastefully designed, minimal. And it helps that its set in a building that dates back to the 1930s – for those extra historic feels. The location is sick, like, really close to everything – and with that in mind, the view from some of the balconies is just too romantic. We love those kinda views. There are free toiletries, desks, satellite TVs, kettles, and more in the rooms, making everything just that more homely for you. It’s like on the cusp of affordable luxury, which is totally our thing. Free breakfast is also immense here.

What to Pack for your Pisa Hostel
We don’t often travel without these essentials.
1. Active Roots Toiletry Bag: Keep your bath-and-beauty items organized and in the right place with this water-resistant bag. With large compartments, mesh and enclosed clear sections, you can fit everything you might need inside. Hang it up or let it stand on its own – this bag is a must-have for dorm-lifers.
2. Power Bank: Probably one of the most important travel accessories – a decent power bank. Charging your phone up to 5 times in a row, the Anker Power Bank is a true lifesaver on long adventures or bus rides. Slick looking, handy and not too big, it easily fits in even the smallest travel bag or your pocket. Charge 2 devices at the same time with the double USB port.
3. Headphone Splitter: You’re the one with the Netflix account and your friend wants to watch too? But you don’t want to share headphones? And you’re good people who wouldn’t disturb your dorm mates? That’s not going to be a problem with this Headphone Splitter! Plug in two pairs of headphones at the same time, so both of you are able to listen to music or watch shows simultaneously.
